Tuindorp Buiksloot renovatie

Beyond good building performance, this modest extension to the ground floor of two professional chefs’ home maximises the efficiency of their dining kitchen and improves the living space on the ground floor. Using bespoke furniture as a divider, the kitchen pantry wraps around the dining area and separates the living space. A cupboard with a door facing the entrance subtly keeps dining rituals organised. Reclaimed floor tiles used in the new interior continue into the garden to an outdoor kitchen and eating area. In the summer months this space seamlessly joins social activities. In the winter it is visually enlarged.

There is research behind every project with spatial quality as the end goal. Building performance, material choice, sustainability, durability, feasibility and circularity all factor into the decisions made. With this home extension for Noni + Isaac the decision was made for a tradition brick over brick strips and an environmentally friendly inner-wall with hemp flax insulation and minimum use of Isover, to achieve an above standard Rc-Waarde.
